Former Candidate Bauer to Speak

Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer will talk about “Becoming a Courageous Christian” on Sunday at Mariners Church in Irvine. Bauer will speak on his defense of anti-abortion, pro-family values. He served as president of the Family Research Council and as a domestic policy advisor during the Reagan administration. The event is from 7 to 9 p.m. Mariners Church is at 5001 Newport Coast Drive. Also scheduled next week is the 37th annual Orange Coast Christian Outreach Week, which begins Monday and features more than 30 events, designed to promote faith. Most events are gatherings in homes, with speakers giving a wide range of talks, including “Faith Reborn at Death’s Door,” “Confessions of a Christian Hollywood Movie Producer” and “The Long Swim Back: A Complete Victory Over Homosexuality.”

There is also a Women’s Networking Luncheon Friday that features keynote speaker and television personality Stephanie Edwards, who will give a talk on “You’re Not One of Those, Are You?” A young women’s conference on the theme, “Desiring a Life of Integrity,” will take place next Saturday.

New Look at Middle Age

Journalist and author Jane Glenn Haas will present a lunchtime program on “The New Middle Age” during the Jewish Community Center of Orange County’s Full Life Festival.

She will look at the seven major challenges men and women face, including ageism, relationships and intimacy, family, health, care-giving, money and spirituality. Haas’ latest book, “Time of Your Life: Why Almost Everything Gets Better After 50” will be available for purchase. “A Global Co-Mission,” a conference featuring speaker Jerry Dulaney, takes place Sunday through March 25 at Brea Baptist Church. The King’s Players Christian drama company will perform this weekend at Grace Baptist Church in Garden Grove. Founded in 1960, The King’s Players is one of the oldest Christian drama companies in the country. The plays performed by the Lynchburg, Va.-based group include “He Came Seeing,” “Everyman” and “Family Outings.” The free performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Eileen Lindner, a children’s rights activist, will give a presentation on the Presbyterian Church’s (U.S.) observance of “The Year of the Child” during the Adult Forum meeting at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.
