Two people were arrested after sheriff’s deputies broke up a fight at a large St. Patrick’s Day party in Quartz Hill, authorities said Sunday.

Nearly 300 teenagers and adults were gathered Saturday night at a home in the 4600 block of Quartz Hill Road when party-goers began throwing punches and beer bottles, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Some minor injuries were reported.

Sixteen deputies wearing helmets dispersed the large group.

Deputies arrested Brenton James Long, 20, of Lancaster on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly plowed through a crowd at the party with his car. Long was being held at the Lancaster sheriff’s station Sunday in lieu of $30,000 bail.

But Long’s sister, Brandy, said her brother was only trying to get away from party-goers who were attacking his car and passengers.

Another party-goer, Travis Ray Willie, 20, of Quartz Hill was arrested on suspicion of resisting and delaying an officer. He was being held at the Lancaster station in lieu of $1,000 bail.
