Energy and the environment will be among the chief topics at the 15th annual environmental law symposium Thursday at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Keynote speaker S. David Freeman, president of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, will discuss the environmental implications of California’s electrical power problems.

The event will be sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. and chaired by Kenneth A. Ehrlich, a partner in the Century City law firm of Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro. It will feature appearances by Erin Brockovich, whose environmental lawsuit on behalf of the residents of the Inland Empire town of Hinkley inspired the movie named for her, and Ed Masry, the attorney who filed the action against Pacific Gas & Electric Co. The day’s program will include a round-table discussion by Los Angeles mayoral candidates on the livability of the L.A. region.

Cost ranges from $130 to $375. For information, call (213) 896-6560 or go online to https://www.lacba.com.
