Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan has endorsed City Councilman Nate Holden in the April 10 special election in the 32nd Congressional District.

“Our city needs Nate Holden in the United States Congress,” Riordan said in a statement released by Holden’s campaign. “Nate’s commitment to a prosperous business climate is unparalleled.”

Holden, who represented the 10th Council District for 14 years and served in the state Senate from 1974-78, is one of 18 candidates vying to replace the late Rep. Julian Dixon.

All candidates in the special election will appear on the same ballot in the April 10 primary, regardless of party affiliation. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, a runoff for the seat will be held June 5 among the top vote-getters from each party.
