The Philadelphia Flyers lost a chance at a win, and might have lost Keith Primeau for a while.

Alexei Yashin scored late in the third period to lift the Senators to a 3-3 tie with the Flyers on Monday night at Ottawa, and Primeau will be sidelined for at least one week by a sprained left knee.

Primeau, Philadelphia’s second-leading scorer, was injured after a hit by Chris Phillips in the third period. He was to be re-evaluated today.

With the tie, Ottawa reached the 100-point mark for only the second time in team history and moved one point ahead of the idle New Jersey Devils for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Montreal 4, Carolina 2--Patrice Brisebois had his first two-goal game of the season as the Canadiens snapped the Hurricanes’ three-game home winning streak at Raleigh, N.C.

Carolina captain Ron Francis had one assist to move within one of tying Paul Coffey for third on the NHL’s career list with 1,135.

Buffalo 4, Atlanta 0--Miroslav Satan scored two goals and Donald Audette’s first goal for the Sabres came against his former team at Atlanta.

Edmonton 4, Columbus 2--Daniel Cleary set up Eric Brewer’s tying goal, and then scored the go-ahead goal less than five minutes later to help the Oilers move into a tie with the Vancouver Canucks for fifth place in the Western Conference.

Around the League

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote, who has sat out 35 games because of a separated shoulder, is expected to return Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers. The team received mixed news on defenseman Rob Blake and center Stephane Yelle, both troubled by knee injuries. Blake will travel with the team but no timetable was set for his return and Yelle may not return until the playoffs, Coach Bob Hartley said. . . . Ottawa Senator center Radek Bonk will sit out the next three to six weeks because of a broken left thumb, the team said. It means Bonk, injured during a Saturday victory over Nashville, will likely not return until the playoffs. . . . Andrew Cassels, the second-leading scorer on the Vancouver Canucks, could miss the final six games of the regular season because of a sprained ankle. He was injured Sunday against Minnesota.
