New Park’s Pre-Ride Video Features Unlikely Look-Alike

Speaking of California Adventure, one of its most popular attractions holds a special meaning for a particular group of die-hard Disney fans.

A safety instructional video shown prior to the Soarin’ Over California ride features a middle-aged visitor who is none too happy about having to take off his mouse ears before the show begins.

The actor bears a strong resemblance to Al Lutz, editor of MousePlanet.com, a Web site devoted to unofficial--and sometimes critical--Disney news and travel advice. Lutz said e-mails about his look-alike started streaming in “within seconds” of the attraction’s debut earlier this year.

“I’ve heard all about it,” Lutz sighed. “My phone was ringing about this for weeks.”

And what did Lutz think upon seeing Soarin’ for himself?

“Oh, [the actor] looks like me, sure. But I can’t imagine it was intentional,” he said.

No, sir, agreed Disney officials: a total coincidence.
