* TV: USA (today-Friday, 1-3 on satellite, 4-6 delayed on cable) and Ch. 4 (Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.).

* Last year: Phil Mickelson beat Gary Nicklaus with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff. The fourth round was canceled because of rain and lightning.

* Last week: Tiger Woods won for the second consecutive week, holding off Vijay Singh by a stroke in the Players Championship. Woods earned $1,080,000 for his 26th tour title.

* Notes: Woods, the 1998 winner, is skipping the tournament to prepare for the Masters. David Duval, the 1999 champion, also is missing after withdrawing from the Players because of tendinitis in his right wrist. He plans to return next week for the Masters. . . . Greg Norman designed the TPC at Sugarloaf. . . . John Daly, the 1994 winner at Atlanta Country Club, has earned $199,721 in eight events this year. He made $115,460 in 26 starts last year.

* Course: World Golf Village, The King and The Bear Course (6,606 yards, par 72).

* Purse: $1.8 million. Winner’s share: $240,000.

* TV: ESPN (Friday, 1-3 p.m.) and Ch. 7 (Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon; Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.).

* Last year: Andy North and Jim Colbert beat Bruce Fleisher and David Graham by a stroke. Lee Trevino and Mike Hill won the Legendary Division for players 60-69, and Charles Sifford and Joe Jimenez took the Demaret Division for players 70 and over.

* Last week: Mike McCullough beat North with a par on the first hole of a playoff in the Emerald Coast Classic. McCullough also won the Mexico Classic on Feb. 25.

* Notes: Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, the designers of The King and The Bear Course, will play together for the first time in the tournament. . . . Sam Snead and Gardner Dickinson won the inaugural event in 1978, sparking interest that led to the creation of the senior tour in 1980. . . . The Legends and Legendary divisions will use a best-ball format in the first and third rounds, and a modified alternate-shot format in the second.

* Last week: Annika Sorenstam won the Nabisco Championship for her third consecutive victory and first in a major title since the 1996 U.S. Open. The Swedish star had a seven-under 281 total for a three-stroke victory over five players.
