2 Beaches Will Remain Closed

Because of excessive bacteria in the water of two Ventura County beaches, “no swimming” signs will be posted for the foreseeable future.

Hobie Beach and Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park, where water pollution has been a problem since last year, are the only beaches closed to swimmers this week.

A study on the causes of pollution at Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park, better known as Kiddie Beach, was presented to the public Wednesday. County and city officials say they are working on problems pinpointed in the study, which include waste from birds and humans and a lack of water circulation at the sheltered beach.
