Driver Killed in Plunge From PCH Is Identified
A man who died over the weekend when his minivan plunged more than 100 feet off a cliff near Point Mugu State Beach was identified as Marcel Adams of Oxnard.
Adams, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics shortly after the crash, which occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, said Mike Feiler, a Ventura County deputy medical examiner.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
Emergency crews found him floating in the shallow surf near his Dodge Caravan, Feiler said.
Believing that a second person may have been in the van, county, state and federal rescue crews searched the rocks and water for several hours late Saturday. They abandoned the search after learning that Adams had been traveling alone.
