Jonathan Bixby, 41, award-winning theatrical costume designer who dressed the troupe of the international Cirque Ingenieux. Bixby’s circus costumes were displayed locally when the Cirque played Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre in 1999. He earned a Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle award for costume design in 1995 for his work on “Sayonara” at the Alex Theatre the previous year. Other examples of Bixby’s work were seen locally in such touring Broadway shows as “The Sound of Music” at the Pantages, “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Long Beach Civic Light Opera and “Jekyll and Hyde,” “Hello, Dolly!” and “Evita” at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Born in Media, Pa., Bixby studied at New York’s Lester Polikoff School of Set and Costume Design and had a 15-year design partnership with Greg Gale. On television, Bixby dressed the cast of the soap opera “One Life to Live.” On Sunday in New York of colon cancer.
