Council Divided Over Ridgeline Ordinance
A divided City Council squelched a plan to give city voters final say on any proposed ridgeline development.
Council members Andy Fox, Dan Del Campo and Dennis Gillette said the proposal by colleagues Linda Parks and Ed Masry was unnecessary.
Parks said giving Thousand Oaks voters the right to turn down ridgeline development on a case-by-case basis would build in extra assurance that ridgelines would remain undisturbed--and could dissuade developers from looking for loopholes in the existing ordinance.
Parks said Wednesday that she and Masry plan to go forward, even without their colleagues’ support. They will attempt to gather enough signatures to place the amendment on the ballot as an initiative.
