Clerk Shot Man in Robbery, Police Say
A Long Beach liquor store clerk shot and killed one of two people who allegedly tried to rob the store, police said Saturday.
Long Beach police said the shooting occurred late Friday when the clerk at Joe’s Liquor Store on Santa Fe Avenue was confronted by two suspected robbers, one of whom showed a handgun. The clerk drew a gun and shot one man, who died at the scene, police said. His suspected accomplice fled and was still at large Saturday.
Neither the clerk nor the dead man was identified. Police did not find a weapon on the dead man.
