Given to digressions and excesses as much as tender, touching music, Badly Drawn Boy, a.k.a. Englishman Damon Gough, has quickly become a rising, offbeat presence in the pop world. He follows his November L.A. debut at the Knitting Factory Hollywood with two nights at the El Rey.

All day: Art

Tour the studios and homes of Venice artists Enrique Martinez Celaya, Laddie John Dill, Robin Mitchell, Masako Takahashi and many others as the Venice Art Walk returns. The annual event was created more than 20 years ago to benefit the Venice Family Clinic, which provides free medical care to the homeless and working poor. While the main Art Walk takes place on Sunday with the usual studio tours, art exhibitions, food fair and children’s art center, other weekend highlights include docent-led tours of architecturally significant homes in Venice, Topanga, Silver Lake and the Westside on Saturday, special musical performances today through Saturday and a party on Sunday.
