Inspired by Nomad

It gave me a thrill to read the April 22 Her World column (“Nomad Finds ‘More Than One Way to Do Life’ by Traipsing the Globe”). It’s been 30 years since I went abroad with a friend for eight months. I’ve been slowly putting together the funds for a new itinerary for an indeterminate period of travel. Getting up the nerve (and stamina) is the hardest part, since I’ll be doing it on my own.

Having a home makes one’s life comfortable and secure. But my mind is always someplace else, out in the world. That’s why it’s so great to read about people like author Rita Golden Gelman--someone who is more like me than my own family. I look forward to reading her book.
