Food With a Good Vibe: One of the restaurants that I really enjoy for the evening is the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon. The atmosphere is really peaceful and beautiful. It has white Christmas lights up all year ‘round and outside dining, which is really nice in the summertime. Indoors, they have a fireplace, so it’s very cozy and romantic. They also have a New Age bookstore that I like to browse through.
Film Feast: Another place for evening dining is Tra Di Noi in Malibu. It’s Italian and they have wonderful pasta and fish. If we have an early dinner, we’ll catch a movie. When we’re in Colorado, the choices aren’t that great. We live in a little town with 700 people, so when we come to California, we feast on the movies.
Ocean Life: We’ve got two grandsons--Travis and Jess--and I like to have them out. It’s wonderful at the beach in Malibu. We can throw the football on the beach, and I like to do that barefoot and feel the sand between my toes. Another one of the things we love to do is feed the sea gulls. Gerry, my wife, is known as the Bird Lady of Malibu. When she calls them, they come. There’s none out there, and all of a sudden there’s just a drove. You throw the bread up in the air and they dive and swoop and catch it.
Tasty Treats: For an early dinner or late lunch, we’ll go to Real Food Daily on La Cienega. It’s totally vegan. It’s very rare to find a vegan restaurant that has such great food. You don’t want to miss their desserts. They’ve got no sugar, no milk, no white flour, but they’re unbelievably good.
Spiritual Refill: I spend some time every weekend just being by myself and finding the quiet time so I really can go into the stillness, the deep stillness within, and find the peace and comfort and love that we’re always looking for in outward things. Very rarely do we find it there. I find that if I don’t go within, I go without. --ROBIN RAUZI
