* Concerts--The Santa Barbara Bowl will host the following performances:

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will play tonight and Friday. Both shows are at 6:30 p.m. $38-$73.

Acoustic folk-rocker Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals will perform Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Jack Johnson is the opening act. $28-$36.

“Reggae at the Bowl” will be Monday at 4 p.m. The bill includes Barrington Levy, Don Carlos, the Morgan Heritage Family and Sanchez. $25-$33.

* Butterflies--Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, 2559 Puesta del Sol Road, will open “Butterflies Alive!” on Saturday. A special butterfly pavilion will house 56 species of butterflies and moths, all native to North America. The pavilion is outfitted with a garden and wooden bridges crossing a small creek. Docents will explain butterfly behavior, biology, feeding, protection and camouflage. Through Sept. 9. $7 general; $6 senior citizens and students; $4 children. * Concert--Bluegrass-country group Nickel Creek and former Toad the Wet Sprocket front man Glen Phillips will perform for an installment of the Sings Like Hell concert series at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. * Theater--Theatre UCSB will premiere Santa Barbara playwright Robert Potter’s “Amusia” at UC Santa Barbara’s Hatlen Theatre. The fantasy is based on the life and music of Maurice Ravel.
