Boy Allegedly Left in Hot Car to Guard Stereo
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A man was arrested for leaving his 5-year-old nephew in a sweltering car to protect his stereo.
Ruben Antonio Gonzalez, 25, was booked Wednesday on a charge of child endangerment for leaving the boy in his car as temperatures soared above 100, police said.
When officers approached the car the boy was reluctant to even roll the window down. Police said Gonzalez had gone to visit someone in the hospital and left the boy to guard his car stereo.
