Meth Discovered in Car; 2 Arrested
The discovery of 15 pounds of methamphetamine tucked into a car’s air-bag compartment led to the arrest of two men, authorities said Thursday.
Juan Aguirre, 53, of Oceanside, and Jesus Gonzalez, 32, of Rosarito Beach, Mexico, were booked into Ventura County Jail in lieu of $1-million bail on suspicion of transporting narcotics, said sheriff’s spokesman Eric Nishimoto. The methamphetamine had an estimated street value of $1 million, he said.
Deputies pulled the car over late Wednesday for a mechanical violation and noticed that the dashboard had been tampered with, Nishimoto said. Drug-sniffing dogs were called to the scene and uncovered the methamphetamine, Nishimoto said.
