Two Vegas Casinos Ban Poker-Room Smoking
The Bellagio and Mirage casinos will ban smoking in their poker rooms starting Friday, because a trial ban proved “overwhelmingly positive,” casino executives announced.
The decision was made largely at the request of Californians who enjoy smoke-free environments back home, said Robert Baldwin, president and CEO of Mirage Properties.
Executives at newer casinos claim that with higher ceilings and better air-circulation systems, there are fewer complaints about smoking in slot machine areas. But poker players spend hours in rooms where even a few smokers can prove to be irritating.
