2 Men Arrested in Forgery Case

A two-month investigation into a credit card fraud ring at the Camarillo outlet mall has resulted in the arrests of two Burbank men on suspicion of forgery. Tigran Petrosyan, 32, and Garegin Babayan, 26, remained in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $1-million bail Friday, said Sgt. Pat MacAuley of the Sheriff’s Department.

They were arrested several weeks after they attempted to buy nearly $40,000 worth of merchandise from stores at the mall, said MacAuley.

One of the credit cards that they attempted to use was declined, MacAuley said. An employee followed the men to the parking lot and took down the license plate of their car and called the Sheriff’s Department, he said.

Investigators found software equipment designed to make credit cards, an unspecified amount of cash, counterfeit checks and a handgun at the men’s home.
