2 Killed, 1 Hurt in 2 Shootings

Two men were killed and another was wounded in two Highland Park shootings Sunday that may have been related, authorities said.
Officers responded to the first incident at 2:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of Fayette Street, where two men were found shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. David Torres.
Edmundo Mendoza, 44, was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he died at 3:07 a.m. A 21-year-old man, whom police would not identify, also was taken to Huntington Memorial, where he was reported in stable condition.
The second shooting occurred 10 minutes later nearby in the 5000 block of Aldama Street, police said.
Brian Scholaert, 18, was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died at 4:04 a.m.
