New Manager to Oversee State’s National Forests
A 30-year U.S. Forest Service veteran has been selected to oversee California’s 20 million acres of national forest.
Jack Blackwell steps into the post at a key juncture, as a new management plan is ready to go into effect for the heavily utilized forests of the Sierra Nevada.
Blackwell, who starts in December, now oversees the U.S. Forest Service’s Intermountain Region, stretching from Nevada to Colorado and north into Wyoming.
Born and reared in northern Minnesota, Blackwell is a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
