Hungry for Jobs
One of the heralded accomplishments of our new L.A. mayor’s Mexico trip was to entice a Mexican supermarket chain to open five new supermarkets and create 1,000 new jobs (“Hahn Upbeat About Mexican Trade Deals,” Nov. 7). Since no one is going hungry because of a lack of a place to buy food, the 1,000 new jobs will most likely come at the expense of 2,000 jobs in mom/pop Hispanic grocery stores. Nice going, Mayor Hahn!

James Hahn states, “Our city is a Mexican city” (Nov. 6). Really, Mr. Hahn? The last time I checked, L.A. was pretty much north of the U.S.-Mexican border. Los Angeles is an American city that simply happens to harbor voters whom the mayor is already pandering to. Another insulting and irresponsible Democrat gets off to a great start.
