Launching their new seasons Sunday night on Fox, now that the World Series has been decided, are “The Simpsons” (8 p.m.) and “Malcolm in the Middle” (8:30 p.m.).

MOVIES

This is Gwyneth Paltrow night on NBC. It starts with her Oscar-winning performance in “Shakespeare in Love” (8 p.m.); then she’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” (11:35 p.m.).

And it’s Humphrey Bogart night on KCET. He stars with Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet in John Huston’s private eye classic “The Maltese Falcon” (9 p.m.), followed by “To Have and Have Not” (10:30 p.m.) with Lauren Bacall.

On Sunday night, Tom Hanks stars in Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan” (8 p.m. ABC).

SPECIALS

“Phil Collins Live in Paris” (8 p.m. Family) is from the singer-songwriter’s European tour and features such hits as “In the Air Tonight” and “Sussudio.”
