Man Shot, Critically Wounded in Head

A 27-year-old man was shot Saturday night in the city’s Santa Anita section, police said.
Residents in the 3500 block of West First Street called police about 9 p.m. to report hearing gunshots coming from the alley. When police arrived at the scene, they found Cirilo Avelino critically injured with a bullet wound in his head.
Avelino was taken to a local hospital, authorities said.
