Showcasing American composers, the latest Pacific Symphony concerts offer the premiere performances of Richard Danielpour’s “An American Requiem,” an hourlong tribute to American heroes with a combined roster of 261 players and singers, including vocal soloists Stephanie Blythe, tenor Hugh Smith and baritone Mark Oswald, conducted by Carl St.Clair. Also on the program: music by Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Gershwin.

“Do Jump!, Anti-Gravitational Theater” is a fusion of physical skill, drama, vaudevillian comedy and dance. It was choreographed and directed by Robin Lane and opens tonight at the Geffen Playhouse.

Tori Amos is on her first solo tour since 1994, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be alone onstage. The intense and often enigmatic singer-songwriter will be joined at each show, its marketing says, by the essence of one of the women who populate her new album, “Strange Little Girls”--a set of songs written by men as interpreted by a gallery of female characters.
