Deal of the Week: San Francisco

The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering lower rates at scores of hotels in the winter. The dates vary by hotel, and the deals are subject to availability. For instance, the Grand Hyatt San Francisco rate of $139, which includes valet parking, taxes, service fees and store discounts, is good through Jan. 5. (A Hyatt reservations agent said the chain does not list regular rates for the hotel in its brochures. However, the $139 rate beat an offer posted Nov. 12 on https://www.expedia.com for Dec. 7 and 8, which was $144.78, including taxes and service fees; valet parking and store discounts were not listed.) The Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf rate of $99 plus taxes is good through March 31. The regular published rate, by comparison, is $199 plus taxes and service fees; Expedia also offered the $99 rate for Dec. 7 and 8. In calling hotels, mention codes provided by the visitors bureau to get the deals. (Be persistent; in at least one case, the rate was listed under a different code.)
