Supervisors to Vote on Dropping Extra Pay

From Times Staff Reports

Ventura County supervisors on Tuesday are expected to eliminate any extra compensation they receive for serving on civic boards and commissions.

A majority of supervisors agreed in July that they should not have a choice about whether they will accept pay for service on the Assessment Appeals Board, the Board of Retirement and other bodies to which they are appointed. Tuesday’s vote would formally amend the county’s ordinance governing supervisor pay.

The county will save about $4,800 a year because of the change, officials said. Supervisors will also hear an update on the county’s financial health at their Tuesday meeting, set to begin at 8:30 a.m. in the board’s meeting room at the County Government Center in Ventura.
