Metrolink’s 2001 Holiday Toy Express train, decorated with more than 30,000 lights, garlands and holiday displays, can be seen at Ventura County train stations Dec. 16.
Now in its fifth year, the holiday program offers a 20-minute musical written and directed by a Metrolink staff member and performed by volunteers, including a 50-member high school band.
This year’s production finds Santa Claus on a journey back in time to the Cretaceous Period.
Admission is free. Donations of unwrapped toys or sports equipment are encouraged.
Gifts collected at Metrolink stations go to the Spark of Love Toy Drive, organized by local firefighters.
Starting Saturday, the train will visit stations throughout the system’s Southern California service area Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, through Dec. 16.
On Dec. 16, the train will visit the Simi Valley station at 5:45 p.m., Moorpark at 6:35 p.m., Camarillo at 7:15 p.m. and Oxnard at 8 p.m.
