Interfaith Day of Prayer Planned

La Casa de Maria Retreat and Conference Center will host an interfaith day of prayer from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at 801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara.

The theme of the conference will be “Celebrating Our Common Ground.” The event will feature representatives of many religions discussing prayer according to their faiths. Guest speakers include Michelle Kimball, scholar and director of International Peace Project; Fariba Enteshari, scholar and teacher of Rumi’s poetry; Pravrajika Deviprana, Ramakrishna order; Father Virgil Cordano, pastor emeritus of St. Barbara parish; Richard D. Hecht, professor of religious studies; Gene Knudsen Hoffman, Quaker writer and peace activist; Melinda Menoni, All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church; Brice Taylor, teacher of Baha’i Faith; Father Constantine Zozos, pastor of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church’ and Sensei Robert Joshin Althouse, Zen Peacemaker order.
