* Clovis--On Nov. 30 the Children’s Electric Christmas Parade will start from the rodeo grounds on Clovis Avenue, and lights are required on all entries, except on animals. 6:30-8 p.m. Free. (559) 299-7273, https://www.clovischamber.com.

* Indio--Experts and amateurs will compete in the Best Tamale contest at the 10th annual International Tamale Festival, Dec. 1-2. A parade begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 on Oasis Street and Miles Avenue. * Calistoga--Vintage and contemporary tractors will be judged on originality at the sixth annual Community Christmas & Tractor Parade, Dec. 1. The parade begins at 6 p.m. on Lincoln Avenue. * La Jolla--It will begin to look a lot like Christmas on Dec. 2, when the Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival come to town. The parade begins at 2 p.m. The festival, with food, crafts, games, rides and entertainment, is on Prospect Avenue in the heart of the village. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. (858) 454-1444.

* Arvin--This tiny Kern County community will kick off the holiday season on Dec. 3 with a Christmas parade. It will feature bands, floats and groups marching down Main Street, beginning at 7 p.m. Free. (661) 854-2265.
