DODGER REPORT

Share

The season is over for Terry Adams, who stepped out of the obscurity of the setup role in June and emerged as a reliable starter.

With the Dodgers out of the playoff chase, and with Adams complaining recently of fatigue in his right arm, Tracy said there is no reason for Adams to pitch during the final week of the season.

Adams, in his seventh major league season, made his first career start June 5 and remained in the Dodgers’ injury-decimated starting rotation. He went 12-8 with a 4.33 earned-run average. The 166 innings, twice as many as Adams pitched last season, set a career high.

Adams can become a free agent after the season and plans to consider signing only with teams willing to use him as a starter.

“I see him as a starting pitcher,” Tracy said. “I see him as a very good starting pitcher.”
