From Times Staff and Wire Reports

One day after the state revealed a proposed court settlement that would let Southern California Edison pay off $3.3 billion in debt, Los Angeles County and the Utility Reform Network announced their opposition to the deal.

The county--which has a $31-million annual electricity bill and is one of Edison’s largest clients--asked a judge for two weeks to review the deal. The county and the reform network said Edison and regulators violated the right of customers to a public hearing and judicial review of rate issues.
