Armed Man Arrested Near Site of Summit
Bulgaria said it had arrested a man armed with a submachine gun who posed a threat to the lives of presidents attending a summit of 10 former Communist countries.
The man put up a struggle when he was arrested at the Sofia Hilton hotel on the eve of Friday’s summit of leaders from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Macedonia and Albania. An Interior Ministry sergeant suffered a hand injury.
No details about the man were given apart from the report that he had a submachine gun, 40 bullets and a silencer.
