School Board Meetings to Be Broadcast on Web

From Times Staff Reports

The Las Virgenes Unified School District will begin transmitting its board meetings live on its Internet site beginning this afternoon.

The school district said the webcast, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., was the fastest and simplest way to provide parents with real-time coverage of the school board, said Deputy Supt. Donald Zimring.

The five cable companies that serve the school district, which straddles Los Angeles and Ventura counties, were unable to televise the meetings simultaneously, Zimring said. The one-time start-up cost for the webcast will be less than $1,000, he said. It can be accessed at https://www.lvusd.k12.ca.us (click to the Board of Education page).
