Red River Freethinkers postponed its campaign to remove a Ten Commandments symbol at the City Hall mall after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Members of the group say they fear a renewed push to remove the monument could create problems for non-Christians, especially Muslims.

The Freethinkers had contended the marker violates church-state separation. A city human relations panel recommended removal as a sign of respect for diverse views, and city commissioners referred the matter to a study committee.
