Thanks From First Lady

I was delighted to read about the four children who organized a lemonade stand and bake sale to raise money for the children of Afghanistan (Oct. 17). Their compassion for innocent children in a faraway land is a lovely example of the heart and character that define our nation. I salute their work, and I thank their parents and supporters as well. These four young citizens learned, and taught us all, a valuable lesson about what it means to be an American. Thank you for publishing this very sweet story about how little hands can make a difference.
