Trash Truck Driver Killed in Canyon Crash
A 38-year-old trash truck driver was killed when his truck drove off a 150-foot embankment, two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway, authorities said Wednesday.
The El Monte man, whose name was not released, was southbound on the 2700 block of Las Flores Canyon Road on Tuesday when the truck crossed into the northbound lane and plowed through a railing, said California Highway Patrol Officer Karen Faciane.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived about 3:50 p.m. and transported the victim to one of their nearby camps. He died at the camp, Faciane said.
