Blackhawks Make Their Sutter a Winner

Eric Daze and Jon Klemm each had a goal and two assists as the Chicago Blackhawks extended their unbeaten streak to six games with a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday at Chicago.

Kyle Calder and Alex Zhamnov also scored for Chicago, which improved to 4-0-1 at home.

Patrick Marleau and Todd Harvey scored in the third period for San Jose, which has won one of its last six.

The game was the first matchup of Chicago Coach Brian Sutter against his brother, San Jose Coach Darryl Sutter, since Brian took over behind the Blackhawks’ bench this season.

The Sutters previously faced each other with other teams. Despite Chicago’s win, Darryl still leads 9-7-3.

Nashville 5, Calgary 4--Andy Delmore scored twice--including the game-winner 3:20 into overtime--as the Predators blew a three-goal lead but still won at Calgary, Canada.

Denis Arkhipov, Greg Johnson, and David Legwand also scored for the Predators.

Colorado 4, Vancouver 1--Eric Messier and Dan Hinote scored deflection goals barely two minutes apart in the second period, and the Avalanche defeated the Canucks at Denver.

Ottawa 7, Philadelphia 2--Marion Hossa had two goals and two assists, and Jani Hurme made 26 saves, lifting the Senators to a victory at Philadelphia.

Magnus Arvedson also scored and had two assists for Ottawa.

Boston 2, Toronto 1--Joe Thornton scored 12 seconds into overtime to lead the Bruins at Boston.

Thornton jammed in his own rebound past Corey Schwab, who made 30 saves in his first start of the season for the Maple Leafs.

Edmonton 5, Columbus 2--Jason Smith scored the go-ahead goal as the Oilers scored three times in the third period to keep the Blue Jackets winless at home.

St. Louis 5, New York Rangers 1--Veteran defensemen Al MacInnis and Chris Pronger scored their first goals of the season to spark the Blues at St. Louis.
