At 42 and with his 12th team, Mike Morgan worked an inning of relief for the Diamondbacks in Game 1 to become the oldest player to participate in a World Series since 43-year-old Joe Niekro pitched in the 1987 Series.

Morgan was thrilled, but his hunting and fishing pals in Utah missed him.

“They called and said, ‘Man, we’re looking at your sleeping bag, your tent, and you’re not there,”’ Morgan said. “I said, ‘Well, that’s a good thing, we’ll have plenty of time later.’ I told ‘em, ‘Hey, maybe you can find a tent somewhere with a satellite dish.”’
