Six homicides across Los Angeles County, including two domestic disputes turned deadly, marked the beginning of the Labor Day weekend.

In Rancho Palos Verdes, in a case of alleged domestic violence, the body of Milita Moine, 44, was found Friday evening. Her husband, Daniel Moine, 45, was arrested about 2:45 a.m. Saturday and booked on suspicion of murder, sheriff’s Deputy Rich Pena said.

A coroner’s investigator said the cause of death would be determined after an autopsy. Daniel Moine is being held at the Lomita sheriff’s station in lieu of $1 million bail, Pena said.

In South-Central Los Angeles, Yvonne Avant, 36, allegedly stabbed her 53-year-old boyfriend to death early Saturday near 120th Street and South Central Avenue, said Det. Sal LaBarbera of the LAPD’s Southeast Division. The man--whose identity was not released because his next of kin had not been notified--”rode off on his bicycle and later collapsed,” LaBarbera said. He died at a local hospital, the detective said.

Avant was arrested a short time later and booked on suspicion of murder. Bail was set at $1 million.

About five minutes after the stabbing, a man was found mortally wounded in a nearby alley in the 9700 block of South Central Avenue, LaBarbera said. The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, had been shot several times, the detective said. He died at the scene about 4 a.m.

On Friday afternoon in the Candlewood Country Club neighborhood near Whittier, a 21-year-old man stabbed a 22-year-old neighbor to death, sheriff’s homicide Det. Frank Salerno said. Brandon Pacheco allegedly stabbed Anthony Rico multiple times in the victim’s home in the 11600 block of Breckinridge Drive, Salerno said.

“They lived only about six houses away from each other. Apparently there had been some animosity between the two,” Salerno said. “We tried to talk to Pacheco, but he wouldn’t give us any reason for what he did.”

The suspect was arrested about a mile from his home as relatives of Rico caught up to him and pummeled him on the street, Salerno said. “The family, they were very distraught,” he said.

Pacheco was booked on suspicion of murder. Bail was set at $1 million, Salerno said.

In Maywood, an unidentified man was shot to death about 11:16 p.m. Friday near 61st Street and Heliotrope Avenue, Pena said, adding that no one had been arrested and the reason for the shooting was unknown.

And in Commerce, sheriff’s investigators searched for a suspect in the slaying of a man about 11:50 p.m. Friday, Pena said. The victim, shot several times in the upper body, died at the scene in the 5400 block of Olympic Boulevard.
