Man Pleads Not Guilty in Killing of 2 Doctors

A North Carolina man accused of gunning down two Huntington Beach doctors along a stretch of the Ortega Highway pleaded not guilty Tuesday, authorities said.
Dennis Earl Godley is charged in the 1999 slaying of Kenneth C. Stahl and his wife, Carolyn Oppy-Stahl, who were found shot to death together in their car.
Investigators believe that Godley agreed to help Kenneth Stahl shoot his wife on the deserted highway but at the last moment turned his gun on the doctor as well. Adriana Vasco, Kenneth Stahl’s mistress, is facing two murder charges of aiding in the killings.
Godley, who was arrested in Virginia and extradited to California, entered his plea at Orange County Superior Court’s Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
