The camera is a natural addition to beach scenes, since they are places to stare and strut, see and be seen. Photographers Jacques L. Garnier and Douglas McCulloh fixed upon a location on a busy beach, planted their light stands on the sand and sampled the passing parade “like a scientist dipping water from a flowing stream.” Their exhibit “CameraSkyOceanLight” at the Cypress College Photography Galleries showcases their images of beach life taken through a medium-format Mamiya 67 with a 180mm portrait lens.* “CameraSkyOceanLight,” Cypress College Photography Galleries, Technical Education Bldg. No. 1 and Library Third Floor, 9200 Valley View St. Hours: Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Free. Ends Sept. 15. (714) 484-7443.
