Bill Lockyer is investigating 70 possible hate crimes (Sept. 20). Just below that article we read that gun sales have jumped 30%. What a prescription for calamity! Here are some suggested remedies.

If you or your loved ones are feeling depressed, see a mental health professional, not a gun dealer. There is medical help for depression. Neither hate nor anxiety and depression are reasons to purchase a weapon.

If you are aware of someone who has recently bought a gun and is spewing hate, let your local law enforcement agencies know.
