Orel Hershiser, the pitcher who led the Dodgers to the 1988 World Series championship, has turned author and will return to Dodger Stadium today for a book signing.
Hershiser, who retired last summer as a Dodger, will sign copies of his new book, “Between the Lines: Nine Principles to Live By,” from 8:30-9:30 p.m. on the club level.
“It was a lot of fun to write and I’m very proud of it and that’s first and foremost in my mind because when you write something it’s going to be there a long time,” Hershiser said.
“And with what’s going on in the nation right now, I’m so glad that the topics that I cover, the principles that I cover in the book are still pertinent, whether it’s a real good time in your life or a real trying time.
“The book was written to be an inspirational book.”
Hershiser played for the Dodgers from 1983-94 and again in 2000.
In 1988, he won the National League Cy Young Award, the league championship series and World Series most valuable player awards and set a major league record with 59 consecutive scoreless innings.
