Airport Parking Lots Get 24-Hour Security
All three Redding Municipal Airport parking lots are too close to the terminal under a new Federal Aviation Administration rule imposed after terrorist attacks in New York and at the Pentagon.
But the lots were saved from closure by the hiring of security guards to provide round-the-clock patrols, Redding Airports Manager Rod Dinger said. The City Council will consider the $37,000 cost at its meeting next week.
The FAA rule requires all unattended vehicles to be parked at least 300 feet from terminals. The Redding lots are within 100 feet.
