Hart District Receives Grant for New School
The William S. Hart Union High School District has received a $37.8-million state grant to pay for half the cost of building a new high school planned to relieve overcrowding, officials said Thursday.
The proposed Golden Valley High School would accommodate 2,600 students on Golden Valley Road west of Sierra Highway, district spokeswoman Pat Willett said.
The district hopes to raise matching funds locally with Measure V, a $158-million bond initiative on the November ballot, Willett said.
About 17,000 students are enrolled in the district’s 12 schools, which were designed to accommodate 10,200 students.
