Topical Writers?

Share

I burst out laughing at the egomaniacal hubris of screenwriters David and Peter Griffiths (“A Turn of Events,” by Patrick Goldstein, Sept. 25). From their self-centered regret that their terror-revenge-massive head count Schwarzenegger flick would not screen as planned thanks to the real-life events of Sept. 11 to their insane spin that their movies are actually ahead of their time because they address terrorism, thereby making them topical, frightful does not begin to describe these characters.

While I am not one to censor “the arts” or anything in particular, these two emblems of the creative denominator in Hollywood are a stumbling, blathering example of where we as a society are heading and why we should wake up before we get there.
