Judge Halts Purchase of Cable TV System
From Times Staff Reports
Ventura County’s largest cable operator was ordered last week to suspend its planned purchase of Verizon’s Americast system in Thousand Oaks.
U.S. District Court Judge Audrey B. Collins granted a preliminary injunction to temporarily suspend Adelphia Communications Corp.’s purchase of Verizon cable systems in Thousand Oaks and unincorporated county areas.
Deputy City Atty. Jason Alcala said Thousand Oaks will continue pushing to restore cable competition.
Adelphia officials said they plan to appeal the ruling.
