From Times Wire Reports

The Pakistani government is failing to protect women from violence including rape, acid attacks, burnings and killings, an international human rights group said.

Violence at home, in police custody and in society at large is widespread in Pakistan, London-based Amnesty International said.

Poor women, those from religious minorities and those forced to pay off debts through indentured service are particularly vulnerable, it said. Amnesty said government pledges to protect women’s rights have had limited impact.
